Our members own and control the Society. We have two categories of membership; personal and corporate. Each category has the same rights and responsibilities and one vote irrespective of the number of shares held. Corporate members include suppliers both in the UK and abroad, schools, other co-operative societies, companies, NGO's and other organisations.

We now have nearly 500 members. We welcome any new members who support our aims and particularly those who can help us realise our vision by offering their time, expertise, contacts,etc.

You can join online or alternatively our Share Offer Document and application form can be downloaded here. Simply complete the form on page 8 and post this along with your cheque to The Treasurer, The Fair Traders Cooperative, 32/34 Huddersfield Road, Holmfirth, HD9 2JS.

The founder directors have established a fund to provide interest free loans to those developing country suppliers, schools, or other organisations who cannot afford the £20 membership. Please email info@thefairtraderscooperative.co.uk if you wish to take advantage of this.

• Obtain news from supplier communities that interest you; question suppliers, learn about their communities, contribute expertise, and propose new suppliers
• Participate in electronic voting on the Society priorities, policy, and board elections
• Nominate a school, college, community group, or supplier as a corporate member
• Gain interest on your investment after 2012 (at the discretion of the Board)
• Volunteering opportunities (on-line or in the shop) in a unique community co-operative-full training provided
• Access to members area within the Holmfirth store
• Preferential terms for our in store events - demonstrations, presentations, tastings,etc

Meetings

Members will be notified in good time by email/letter when meetings are to be scheduled.

Have your say
